Uses:
Black Cohosh Root can be used in Tea Blends, or in Tinctures/ Infusions. It is often blended with sweeter herbs like Anise, Orange Peel, or Ginger in Teas.
Black Cohosh has been mainly used to help alleviate symptoms of menopause because of the phytoestrogens it contains. It has been known to help with symptoms like hot flashes, vaginal dryness, heart palpitations, tinnitus, vertigo, sleep disturbances, nervousness, irritability, and night sweats.
Active Compounds:
Triterpene glycosides, such as Acetin and Cimicifugoside; Isoflavones, such as Formononetin, which binds to estrogen receptor sites. Other compounds include aromatic acids, tannins, resins, fatty acids, starches, and sugars, salicylic acid, and isoferulic acid.
